Either your incredibly brave or you have a very very long lens. Rhinos are territorial and aggressive. Either way this is an absolutely wonderful rhino image.

Rick Furmanek replied:

Thank you for the comments, Chris. We were deep in the African bush (on foot) with two experienced guides/trackers and happened upon four adult white rhinos. They are spectacular creatures. This image is from about 30'. We had two conditions for trekking into the bush ... 1) We had to be able to scale a tree very quickly. 2) We had to keep one eye to the trees for there were leopards in the area. Again, thanks for commenting. Cheers, Rick

A LOOK OF LOVE by PHOTOGRAPHER RICK FURMANEK

We had the privilege of encountering several white rhinos while on a photo safari in Uganda. This particular guy had just lost his mate the previous night to a larger, more aggressive male. To me, his eyes tell the story. Ref. 2719

Self-taught in both photography and digital processing, I count myself fortunate to have had access to Adobe Photoshop almost daily for 20+ years. I hope to always remain a student of the craft. Along the journey I've been fortunate to have had my work recognized by organizations such as...
