Description
MORAINE LAKE by PHOTOGRAPHER RICK FURMANEK
We set out from Phoenix and for 13 days we made our way through Glacier NP (Montana), Banff NP (Alberta), Jasper NP (Alberta), Vancouver, BC, Olympic NP (Washington), the Oregon Coast, Multnomah Falls (Oregon) and the Redwoods of Northern California. That's 5300 miles in 13 days.
Here is a shot of Moraine Lake in Banff National Park (Canadian Rockies). This has been at the top of my photog bucket list for quite some time. The color of the lake is due to the amount of limestone rock flour and its position in the water. It is a characteristic of the glacial lakes found in the Canadian Rockies. While I don't understand the physics of how it gets its color from rock flour, I can appreciate the results. I hope you can too. Ref. 1029

Very beautiful. I love the greenish blue color of that lake. Well seen and captured.
