THE LAST VESTIGE by PHOTOGRAPHER RICK FURMANEK

This last vestige of fall seemed to be standing in defiance of an early winter snow storm. The silence of the forest during a heavy snowfall provides momentary pauses of tranquility while casting its pure white blanket of beauty over everything. The contrast of this lone pocket of vibrant yellow and gold against the surrounding snow-laden trees gave me the composition I was looking for. This was shot in the White Mountains of Arizona. Ref. 4697

I've always had a passion for artistic expression with my camera. As an industry specialist in the mid-90's I served as the Operations Manager/Technical Trainer in the Apple Computer technical support division in Tempe, AZ, just when PowerMacs were hitting the scene. This exposure served to influence my move from film to digital photography. The Apple QuickTake was my first digital camera. From there I moved to Olympus and finally settled on Canon. Self-taught in both photography and digital processing, I count myself fortunate to have had access to Adobe Photoshop almost daily for 20+ years. I hope to always remain a student of the craft.
