ATMOSPHERE by PHOTOGRAPHER RICK FURMANEK
I tracked this rainbow for about thirty minutes coming up out of the Salt River Canyon heading south toward Globe (AZ) waiting for the right atmospheric conditions. The cloud, which seemed to conceal the rest of the rainbow, lit up as the sun peeked through the storm to the west. It was one of the most brilliant rainbows I've witnessed to date. As the storm continued to thrash about with heavy wind and rain I thought the ominous looking sky above contrasted perfectly this brief respite of peace below... and to top it off it was a double rainbow. About Rick Furmanek
I've always had a passion for artistic expression with my camera. As an industry specialist in the mid-90's I served as the Operations Manager/Technical Trainer in the Apple Computer technical support division in Tempe, AZ, just when PowerMacs were hitting the scene. This exposure served to influence my move from film to digital photography. The Apple QuickTake was my first digital camera. From there I moved to Olympus and finally settled on Canon. Self-taught in both photography and digital processing, I count myself fortunate to have had access to Adobe Photoshop almost daily for 20+ years. I hope to always remain a student of the craft.
