OLD GRUMPY by PHOTOGRAPHER RICK FURMANEK

In order to travel into the African bush (on foot) with two experienced guides/trackers in search of the elusive white rhino we had agree to two conditions: 1) Should a rhino charge, we had to be able to scale a tree very quickly. 2) With leopards spotted in the area we had to understand that we might be climbing a tree with a leopard in it. What a journey! Uganda is such a magical place. Ref. 2726

I've always had a passion for artistic expression with my camera. As an industry specialist in the mid-90's I served as the Operations Manager/Technical Trainer in the Apple Computer technical support division in Tempe, AZ, just when PowerMacs were hitting the scene. This exposure served to influence my move from film to digital photography. The Apple QuickTake was my first digital camera. From there I moved to Olympus and finally settled on Canon.
