STORMY ATMOSPHERE by PHOTOGRAPHER RICK FURMANEK

I love it when you find yourself on the edge of a desert dust storm and you can use it to create a sense of a shallow depth of field and yet maintain sharpness throughout the entire image. To me, it's all about atmosphere. Often what comes with a storm such as this is large dust-coated raindrops. Location: Superstition Mountains of Arizona. Ref. 1972

That is an absolutely stunning photo. The beauty of the cactus and rocky cliffs have such a different mood to them with that dust in the air. Wow. This should win some kind of photography award. Or two. Or maybe ten... just saying... L/F Featured in American Desert Southwest.
