PRICKLY PEAR BEAUTY by PHOTOGRAPHER RICK FURMANEK
I love it when you go out into the field with intention and you are rewarded for your diligence. My goal was to locate Arizona's flowering cacti in order to do some work with my macro lens. The hedgehog and ocotillo were abundant, while the cholla and prickly pear were a little more sparse. And of course it's too early for the saguaros. Here is a shot of a prickly pear flower I really liked. Focusing upon the pistils permitted my mind to envision a tiny, but finely tuned world that I need to appreciate more. Ref. R0980
