R. I. P. by PHOTOGRAPHER RICK FURMANEK
An old saguaro cactus is laid to rest. Saguaros are all shapes and sizes and can live for over 200 years. It is amazing to think some of these giants were alive when the Declaration of Independence was signed. I loved how the spring bloom seemed to honor its passing. Ref. 1661

Congratulations on your feature in the Fine Art America Group "Images That Excite You!"

Before I even read your description I was thinking to myself that the beautiful blossoms are honoring this beautiful and majestic giant as he slumbers for all eternity. Wonderful capture, Rick. Such a beautiful and worthy setting for this fallen icon of the desert. L/F Featured in American Desert Southwest. Also, I must say that I am jealous of those of you are enjoying the beauty in Arizona right now. Southern Nevada is still rather barren and desolate looking with not much in the way of Spring blooms. Thankfully I can enjoy wild flower season through your wonderful photos.

I appreciate your kind words. Hopefully you'll start getting some bloom before too long. Thank you for the feature.
